British culture is a very important topic we need to know if we want to go abroad and to act correctly in different specific situations.
In this blog we will focus on superstition, an issue that despite it was more present some years ago, is still a part of British culture and its members.

You should never walk under ladders, and never pass people when going up or down stairs. But why?

At Jacob's time people believed that to climb a ladder or to walk up the stairs meant luck because this was the way up to God. Therefore, going under a ladder might  mean the opposite... So, if you have to go under a ladder you should keep your fingers crossed to avoid bad luck.

If you go up or down the stairs and you have to pass someone, you can always cross your fingers and this way avoid disaster.

However, if you stumble on the staircase, that is said to be a good omen. It might even indicate a wedding in the household in the future.
